:: Christmas Decorating with Children ::

Yesterday we gathered some fallen branches in the reserve next to our house in a dry patch of the weather. This afternoon the kids couldn't wait any longer, so we put up our decorations (minimal) & Christmas 'tree' (branches with a new decoration added to our collection each year... this year it was a crochet star!) I also needed a couple of photos to add to frames we are giving grandparents as Christmas presents, so dressed the kids and snapped off a heap of photos, hoping for at least one where they are both smiling and in focus (didn't happen!). As I arranged and decorated (and the kids went through our Christmas box, getting out the collection) I was thinking how lovely it would be to have something simple, like crocheted stars & decorations, and a few bows from pretty ribbon this year... you know, a theme, a classy stylish setting like you see on Pinterest or in glossy magazines! Ah, but look how busy our 'tree' ended up, and we have vintage tinsel & mini disco balls hanging around the place too! Ah well, that is Christmas in the real world, with kids, and I wouldn't have it any other way! The branches look better with our 'memories' hanging on them anyways!
